Annual
Meeting Buzz: Progress!
Optimism was the pervading spirit at First Choice America
Credit Union's 69th Annual Meeting attended by a
large crowd of members and guests at the Weirton K of C
Hall in February.
John R. Thayer, Chairman of the Board, emphasized
the sound progress made with 2007's main initiatives
and told the crowd, "We realized growth
in membership, increased our assets and earned
a coveted rating for financial strength."
"Of special significance was the distinction of
again earning a Superior rating from an
official industry rating group for the
excellence of our capital strength, asset quality
and management ability," Thayer said.
Our Credit Union expanded its presence in the
Wheeling metro market and in doing so
saw membership grow to an all-time high of
41,000-plus, while assets increased to a
highest ever level of $260 million.
First Choice America opened a new full-service
branch office in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling,
the Ohio County seat.
To further enhance service to Ohio County members, our
Credit Union accepted the merger proposal of the 1,900
member Prime Financial Credit Union, which at the time listed assets
of $4.5 million. Our new Medical Park office
-- 8th office for the company -- resulted from this action.
"In our long history of service, the philosophy of
'members first' has and will continue to anchor the business strategies
of First Choice America. Together we're working on a brighter
future," Thayer declared.
U. S. Congressman Alan B.
Mollohan, of Fairmont, WV, attended as a special guest and spoke
briefly. Kenneth W. Truax, Treasurer of the
Board of Directors, presented the Community Spirit Award along with
a cash donation to Gregg S. Warren, Senior
Administration Representative of Wheeling Hospital, to be used for a
charitable cause. |
